Finance & Ratings Officer

Applications are invited to join our finance and ratings team with 1.5 FTE roles available. The final structure of the post(s) will depend on the skills, experience, and aspirations of the successful candidate(s). We welcome expressions of interest from interested candidates who have a background in finance and ratings, ideally with or working towards AAT and/or IRRV Technician membership. Good quality management information is vital to our effectiveness. A key part of this role will be compiling comprehensive financial and statistical information from the Boards’ various income and expenditure streams, ensuring that Management, Board Members, and other stakeholders have the insight they need to operate efficiently and effectively.

We welcome applicants with experience in some of the following areas:

  • Financial management (competent in Excel, purchase ledger-inputting & paying invoices, sales ledger, nominal ledger, cash book, bank reconciliation, stocks, asset registers, payroll, use of SAGE or similar finance platforms).
  • Ratings administration (maintaining ratings records/changes, annual billing process, requesting land valuations & liaison with valuers, monitoring income, debt management& proactively chasing outstanding debt, Magistrate Court Liability Orders, use of ICT based Ratings platforms).
  • Audit and compliance in public authorities.
  • Payroll and pensions administration

You do not need to meet all criteria, you may have a background in public sector financial services, council tax, revenues, and benefits or specifically within our IDB field of work. We are open to shaping the role(s) around the 4 Boards’ requirements and the right individual(s).

We offer an ATTRACTIVE BENEFITS PACKAGE:

  • This role offers flexible working hours and a hybrid working arrangement, combining time in the office with the option to work from home.
  • Nine day working fortnight. The IDBs operate a compressed hours system of a 37 hours working week, delivered over a 74-hour fortnight (9 days working fortnight).
  • Annual leave entitlement starting at 23 days and rising to 27 days over a five-year period, plus 3 statutory days leave along with Bank Holidays entitlement.
